TRAVEL FORMALITIES TO THE USA

Need for ESTA

The procedure allowing a visitor's ability to enter the country for stays of up to 90 days is called the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

It is advisable to apply for ESTA as soon as possible, but preferably at least 72 hours before your travel begins. You should receive a response regarding your application from us within minutes.

USA

Official Application

Every eligible citizen under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for travel authorization before traveling to the United States.

The following nations benefit from the Visa Waiver Program:

Andorra, Brunei, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, New Zealand, Republic of Malta, Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, Chile, Finland, Hungary, Japan Ireland, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Ireland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Monaco, Ireland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Ireland, Denmark, Ireland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Saint-Marin, South Korea and Taiwan.

It is not possible to add elements to an electronic authorization system.

Once your application is approved, you will be informed of the expiration date of your ESTA so that you can take necessary action.

However, a renewal of the ESTA will be necessary in the following cases:

  • The validity period of your ESTA is almost expired.
  • The ESTA you were using has expired.
  • The validity period of your ESTA is less than that of your passport.
  • You want to organize your documents in advance because you have other planned trips soon.
  • In this case, the renewal request for your ESTA follows the same procedure. You will need to fill out the electronic form again, providing your current details and answering all questions in the application. Additionally, renewing the ESTA authorization will involve fees, as the competent authorities will need to reprocess the application. Your new application will replace your expired ESTA and will be valid for a period of two years.

Visa Application

To enter the United States, visitors holding passports from nations and territories where a visa is required must have a visitor visa, often called a temporary resident visa.

An official document called a visa is added to the passport to allow entry into the United States.

There are two types of visas: single-entry and multiple-entry. Both have an expiration date and are valid only for that period.

With a multiple-entry visa, travelers can enter and exit the United States without needing to apply for a new one, typically for a period of six months.

It is valid for up to ten years, or one month after your passport expires, whichever comes first.

With a single-entry visa, you can only visit the United States once. You will need a new visa to enter the country again after departure, except for trips to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and the United States.

Check if a visa is required.

How to Obtain This

The Electronic Travel Authorization, or ESTA, is required for traveling to the United States and includes mandatory registration, entry, and advisory fees that must be settled with a credit card.

This e-Visa is designed to make registration quick and simple, allowing you to travel to the United States for business or tourism without a visa.

Unfortunately, once your information is registered, it cannot be changed or refunded as the U.S. government will review it.

In summary, you can directly register your application at https://www.estavoyages.com/ and then await processing to obtain your ESTA.

Travel Documents

You and any children traveling with you must always have the appropriate travel and identity documents when traveling to the United States.

Airlines and other transport service providers are required to ensure that you have the correct travel documents.

You may not be allowed to board the plane or may be delayed if you do not have the necessary documents.

The travel documents listed below are not considered reliable. They are not valid for entry into the United States:

  • Passports purportedly obtained in Somalia
  • Czech Republic passports that cannot be read by a machine
  • Passports temporarily issued by the Republic of South Africa
  • Venezuelan passports for temporary travel

See Arrival in the United States and Special Conditions for Minors for information on what you need to know before traveling to the United States.

What are the formalities for traveling to the United States?

You must proceed according to the type of valid and current passport you possess for a stay of less than ninety days.

The form will ask you a series of questions, and the answers you select will be sent automatically.

You will not need a visa if your French passport is valid and regular.

However, if you have traveled after 2011 and are a dual citizen (from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen), U.S. authorities must record a visa on your French passport before departure.

Before departing and boarding a plane, we recommend visiting the U.S. consulate or embassy to validate your passport.

You must submit an application to obtain ESTA travel authorization, and your application will be approved within 72 hours of receipt.

Your travel authorization will be valid for two years from the date of issue, allowing you to visit the United States multiple times without needing to reapply. You will need to submit a new application if, upon expiration of your authorization, your passport becomes invalid.
